Octavo (21 cm), pp. 147. Signed and inscribed by author on front pastedown: "For Ed- who knows far better than I how much he contributed, who does not know as well as I how much it was appreciated. Ray B. West / Iowa City, Oct. 20, 1952." With bookplate on free front endpaper "From the Library of Edward F. McGuire." Navy blue boards with gilt titling, blue and yellow jacket. Boards are worn at extremities, with crimped corners. Jacket has a few small chips and closed tears, and one spot where the color bled through onto the underside. West was a professor at the University of Iowa during the early stages of its development as a preeminent writing program, where he founded The Western Review quarterly literary magazine. Dust jacket present. First Edition.
