Includes 16 color reproductions of Thomas Moran paintings (including frontispiece), 32 duogravures from photographs, and maps of the three parks. Deckle edges, gilt top edge, index. "Junior 1959" written in ink on free front endpaper. Partially unopened. Boards with slightest corner wear, no jacket as issued.The National Park Service credits Murphy (whom it calls "a British globe-trotter and writer of the period") with noting early on that bear feedings in the national parks were "a distracting influence." Murphy also wrote "The Seven Wonderlands of the American West."
