24 x 20 cm, pp. [4], 119, [27]. Includes number exercises tipped in between pages 20/21, foldout exercises tipped in at end. Duplicated typed pages, brown cardstock cover, bound with blue tape. Former owner's name inside front cover (C.A. Wood of Kisumu, 1967). Tape binding has disintegrated at head of spine, front cover shows dampstaining, rear cover has sun browning. Luyia (or Luhya) is a Bantu language with multiple dialects spoken by tribes in Western Kenya. Appleby, a missionary linguist, worked for the Church Missionary Society which advocated unsuccessfully for a single, standard, literary version of Luyia that could be understood by all who spoke the language.
